I observed the application of the synergy model in the nursing profession and witnessed that when the model is applied, nurses perform specific roles while receiving assistance from their senior colleagues leading to better collaboration. In addition, it also focuses more on attracting and retaining nurses in professional practice. In the synergy model, roles are established and distributed within the practices. For example, I observed that while applying the model, a triage doctor in the emergency unit manages all functions leading admission into the relevant ward.

The triage nurse handled preliminary tests and channeled the patients to various departments, such as laboratory and clinical desks before a final decision of admission is conducted in an outpatient department. I also observed that the model supports healthcare providers to predetermine the patient’s characteristics and match them with professional competencies during care. For example, a patient with diet challenges was matched to an expert nurse in nutrition and dietetics to support their needs. The nurse then ensured that the type and quality of meals were managed as per the nutritional limitations. I noted that the model works best in primary healthcare systems and guided clinical staffs during their professional practice. For example, professionally trained theatre nurses handled their roles and supported others through skill building. Additionally, anesthetists managed their roles and supported inexperienced colleagues to gain competencies in their professional practice

Accordingly, the authors aver that IPC is a significant policy approach in managing patients’ safety. For instance, it inspires a collaborative, participatory, and coordinated approach to realize integrated decision-making in social and health issues between clients and teams of healthcare professionals (Regan et al., 2016). Through this approach, job satisfaction is achieved among professional staff. In addition, the authors illustrate that nurses are strategically placed within the healthcare system to promote the principles of IPC. Thus, the model supports quality services through collaborative approaches between various healthcare professionals.

IPC is an effective foundation employed to achieve professionalism in service delivery. Regan et al. (2016) revealed that the model reduces job burnout and increases organizational trust and civility within professional practice. The model can be utilized to achieve set targets and deliver effective healthcare services. Job satisfaction is a key aspect that enhances service in proficient practice since the model focus on professionalism. Institutions can conduct training and capacity building session to illustrate the expectations of the model in the nursing profession. By doing so, nurses will be proficient in applying the model and enhancing quality and value in service. When institutions employ PPM in the workplace, it enhances work fulfillment and increases retention rates for healthcare workers. Implementing the model will also generate incentives for professional growth and enhance quality for patients and their families. As Slatyer et al. (2016) explain, PPM mainstream two approaches of professional visibility and self-confidence, which delivers professional authority for nurses. When the model is applied, it enhances independence and collaboration in the delivery of quality patient care. Freeman (2015) maintains that the approach eliminates economic disproportion of patients during cancer management. Therefore, it improves professionalism and job satisfaction in healthcare workers.
